Youth Justice Report: Fair go for young people

Youth Action has just launched a report with recommendations to support young people, particularly those young people in conflict with law, to get a fair go. The report includes our key recommendations on legal reform, connection to Aboriginal culture in the community, youth services and supports in community, education, mental health and wellbeing, youth voice and participation and employment and training.

The Youth Justice Report: Fair go for young people comes after consultations and roundtables with the youth sector, young people and Government agencies. It is more important now more than ever to highlight the need for investment in supports and services that reduce young people’s contact with the justice system.

The report is launching off the success of ‘Saplings’ that performed as part of the Sydney Festival 2024. ‘Saplings’ was a play written in collaboration with the Australian Theatre for Young People (ATYP) and based off the voices and experiences of young people in conflict with the law. Following the performance, Youth Action launched their new campaign fair go for young people.

Show your support to the fair go for young people campaign by posting a photo of thumbs up to support greater investment in young people. The tag line of the campaign is ‘invest in young people because the consequences aren’t minor’. Take action here.
