The Western Sydney Project is a place based advocacy program that has been delivered in the community for over 30 years. The project focuses on advocacy and capacity building for the youth sector and young people in the Western and South Western Sydney region. Youth Action manages the Western Sydney Youth Sector Network (WSYSN) of over 180 youth organisation representatives as well as the Western Sydney Young People’s Network and provide advocacy training in local schools.

For the Youth Sector
To ensure the voices of young people are included in conversations that impact them, we gather young people’s opinions, knowledge and lived expertise through our consultations, information sharing and training. Voice
Our consultations with the Western Sydney youth sector inform our advocacy work, including on government policy and programs.
Capacity Building
We support the Sector by sharing opportunities to build its capacity to deliver effective, evidence based, outcomes-oriented services.
Engagement
Youth Action regularly engages with the youth sector and other local stakeholders to share opportunities, challenges and build community connections.
For Young People
Voice
Youth Action consults with young people from Western Sydney about decisions that impact them. The lived experiences and voices of young people contribute to our advocacy work.
Capacity Building
We bring like-minded young people together to strengthen community connection. We provide capacity building opportunities for young people so they can engage in systems that affect them.
Engagement
We regularly deliver place-based engagement to strengthen our connections with young people. We offer opportunities for young people to participate in our projects.
Youth Action is the peak body for young people and youth services in NSW.
Youth Action acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of Country throughout Australia. We understand that sovereignty was never ceded and recognise their continuing connection to lands, languages, waters, and cultures.
